I have started this blog for a couple of reasons. The country is in a vice right now. Our two party political system has divided Americans in a way that it is now "us versus them." Listening to the president last night in his 100 day rally I was deeply saddened. Sad at how our president on television calling everyone who disagrees with him liars, stoking anger and exciting the crowd. I don't want to rant about my political views, I want to talk about the issues that everyone faces. We have a problem with the country's immigration problem, but is the fix to build a wall and hide in fear? What if we started thinking about why people are immigrating to the United States in the first place? What if we talk about how we can help better not just the United States but the world as a whole? We can all rise above these divides, I truly believe it, and we can do it in ways that are economically viable.
I also started this blog to write about what I have learned from my addiction, and recovery. I don't want to get to in depth about the things that happened to me because I feel that is a distraction to the point. We all feel anger, hopelessness, regret, joy, happiness, love, so why not talk about it? The point is to get people to come together and show support for others who are suffering. If we want to advance as a society, we need to learn to deal with issues in a healthy and responsible manner, and talking about it is about the best place to start! I will talk about what has helped me, and what continues to help me. I don't want it to be only written by me however. As people read over the blog and view the site I hope that they will leave a personal story about their struggles and ways they have overcome. Each person who leaves a testimony will help the next person who reads the blog. Think about it as paying it forward; you're leaving your story so that when someone is struggling with life they can read it and gain inspiration. I believe that when we come together to help our fellow humans we are moving towards a more enlightened society. Thank you for reading.
